Targeted Regional Enrollment by 2025
What is Community-Based Health Insurance?
CBHI is a government-led health insurance scheme where members contribute a small, affordable annual premium. In return, the insurance covers the cost of medical care at enrolled health facilities. It operates on the principle of risk-pooling, ensuring that the healthy support the sick, and the rich support the poor.
- Eliminates out-of-pocket payments at the point of care.
- Increases access to essential medicines and diagnostics.
- Promotes equity by offering subsidized rates for vulnerable groups.
- Improves the quality of health facilities through guaranteed revenue.
